hands down, this is our favorite bbq sauce – we all love it and eat it on …. well, just about anything.
this recipe does use liquid smoke. i’d someday like to play with cooking it in a smoker instead, but haven’t gotten to it yet.

Favorite BBQ Sauce

Ingredients
- 1½ cups brown sugar
- 1 cup catchup
- ½ cup dijon mustard
- 2 Tablespoons liquid smoke (more or less depending on brand)
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon coarse ground pepper
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce
- ¾ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Store in fridge.
- To make a tangy bbq, reduce brown sugar to 1 cup, add juice of 2 lemons and ¼ cup vinegar
- To make a kickin' bbq, add 2 teaspoons of chipotle seasoning
- To make an asian bbq, add ½ cup rice vinegar, 1 teaspoon of ginger, 2 Tablespoons of Soy Sauce, and any other spice that strikes your fancy.
