etsy love

i love etsy.  honestly – i do.

i love the idea behind it, that you are buying direct from individuals and not corporations, and i love the unique items i find there.  sometimes i browse for ideas, sometimes i’m specifically looking for something.  usually i end up going down rabbit trails as one thing leads to the next.   embarrassing to admit, but i currently have 70 shops favorited and over 160 items….. i think it’s a little therapeutic to hit that cute heart button instead of the shopping cart icon.

a couple recent favorites,  seriously, how classic are these hair clips?  they make a quick half back hair do feel sophisticated – a little – i don’t pull of sophisticated well …..

Minimal curved brass hair cuff, ponytail holder, hair barrette, simple brass hair accessory, bun pin, hair holder, hair jewelry

and a reindeer hide that i purchased from a nordic tribe?!  how awesome is that?  (clint thinks that i was hoodwinked with my active imagination just picturing these cute kiddos frolicking in the snow with reindeer)  i really really love it – incredibly soft

anyho,  recently we heard of a new etsy shop Juniper Blue Custom, opening that sells custom rag style dolls – you get to pick the hairstyle, skin color, etc – how fun is that!  another thing i liked was that it’s owned and run by a mother and her daughters; pretty cool.

now i’ve made my older two girls their own dolls, and even named them with baby names that clint had vetoed from my actual baby name list, but hadn’t gotten around to making one for indie.  and sunny and wren keep reminding me that poor neglected indie doesn’t have her own doll…..and then i feel guilty ….. and then i forget ……so this was a perfect solution.  my girls were soooo excited to open the box that was packaged super cute. and i was very impressed with the size, and quality, of the doll.  it had a more substantial feel to it than sunny and wren’s, and the workmanship was impressive, and that’s coming from a sewer herself.  (no, i’m not getting paid to say this)

so check them out, and just try and see if you don’t end up “favoriting” at least one or two other items in the process.
