we traveled down to kentucky with some friends to be in the “path of totality” during the upcoming solar eclipse. i’m thankful for ambitious/adventuresome friends like this, because cline and i wouldn’t never have thought to undertake such a long trip (6+ hours) with the kiddos.
the ride down went great. indie was fairly compliant, the kiddos were excited.
we met up with the other families at a nice campground type place, and had and enjoyable supper and evening, just swimming and hanging out.
the day of the solar eclipse dawned muggy and beastly hot.
when we arrived at chaney dairy, where we had decided to observe the eclipse, it was packed with people sitting in the sweating 98 degree heat. after standing in the full sun for over an hour to get ice cream, wren and indie had about had it; thank goodness for ice cream to cheer them, and me, up!
the eclipse was great – the stop and go traffic on the way home, mingled with a crying indie, not so great. clint and i kept looking at each other, silently thinking, “was this worth it?”
ask me in a couple weeks….i’m still trying to decide…….
