spring / summer wardrobe

this may seem like a simple thing, but i gotta tell you, it’s been a sunday morning lifesaver for us.

it started last fall, with trying to avoid clothing wars with sunny; i ended up laying out all her church outfits and photographing them, then taping them to the inside of her closet door.
Simple, but worked like a charm.  She could pick out her outfit (based on a picture) and dress herself.  or if darling hubby was helping out, it was a great visual aid.

the unexpected bonus was that it saved me so much time and brain power, not to mention mess!  i don’t know about you, but trying to get out the door can be a little crazy around here, so to not have to think about which leggings would look cutest with that skirt has been wonderful.

fast forward to march, and i’m staring at piles of shirts, leggings, skirts, dresses, shoes…you get the picture, quite a mess.
i ended up closing myself in sunny’s room, getting everything (even accessories and shoes) out so i could see it all, and started combining.  i’d start with a dress or skirt and make up different options – usually i’d have at least two, but sometimes there was only one way i thought it looked best and then photographing it.  if there was an item of clothing i didn’t use at all, it got packed away.

honestly, it didn’t take long – 60 minutes max.  i was having so much fun that i started on wren’s spring / summer wardrobe.

once i had all my pictures, i sent them off to be printed as 4×6’s.  upon arrival, i used washi tape (if you don’t have any, order some from etsy right now – seriously – this stuff is awesome.  low tac, won’t damage surfaces….) to adhere the pics to the inside of their closet doors.
