2017 week #14

04.02.17
we were so excited to see clint after being apart for 2 1/2 weeks while he was on a mission trip in Paupa New Guinea with a couple other guys

my much braver-than-i friend thought it would be a great idea to rent a hotel room and let our kiddos swim while we wait on our daddy’s plane to come in. (expected arrival: 9:30pm)

i hesitantly but naively agreed, being a little concerned about the parent to child ratio (2 mommy’s + 11 kids + possible disaster)

things started out splendidly – jess & i were having great conversations and the kiddos were loving the pool

what happened next had to have looked like quite a scene:  jess noticed wren in the hot tub – i noticed that only her eyes were above water.  we both (each holding a baby ) leaped into the hot tub to rescue wren from a watery death.  talk about scary….i was one freaked out but incredibly thankful mama

we then decide to go out for supper at Culvers when the flu bug decided to make an appearance.  while one kid puked in the parking lot, the others , with noses pressed to the window, watched with excited rapture, keeping us updated on the size and frequency of the vomit.

about this time, we also hear that our husbands ‘ plane has been delayed, notice that another possibly sick child has fallen asleep on the bench, while a third child begins to look a bit peaked;  (could this be the next one about to come down with the flu? ) – what to do?

after some stewing, the fiechters headed for home and my crew and i went back to the hotel to watch movies, still hoping to pick clint up at the airport.   after repeated delay’s, we threw in the towel and headed for home as well, not knowing when the plane would actually show up.  it’s was a rather sad crew that fell into bed that night.

looking on the bright side, this will be a weekend we’ll remember for the rest of our lives – trauma does that to a person!   oh, and my very kind father-in-law made the middle of the night trip to the airport to pick up the guys, so all’s well that ends well……

welcome home honey

after decorating easter eggs, sunny and addy informed me that we now had to make nest for the eggs.
bright and early the next morning, they were up collecting twigs for the project and putting the finishing touches on their eggs – i love these girls and their creativity
